Geoje-do, the Most Beautiful Place You’ve Never Heard Of

I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking.

Scarecrows on the Hong Po scenic road.

Goofing around at Hakdong Mongdol Beach

More stops along the scenic highway

The “sea line” zip line- it was so much fun!

Dr.Seuss-esque snail bathrooms at the Janseungpo Sculpture Park.

Terraced family plots along the hillside in Janseungpo.

An incredible and giant butterfly.

The mountains meet the sea in Hong Po town.

Delicious seafood soup (haemul tang) for dinner. We ate at a tiny family restaurant perched on the highway above the ocean. Chickens, children and puppies roamed the yard behind the restaurant, and old men sat with us on the deck, smoking and drinking beer. We hadn’t expected to stop there at all, but afterwards we agreed that it had been the most worthwhile part of our trip.

It’s pretty obvious why.
